What Buddhism means for us in this day and age

Our aim is to connect you to the original teachings of the Buddha in a way that is practical, non-dogmatic and relevant to your everyday life.

Who we are

In-depth exploration of the early Buddhist texts for today

Bodhi College was founded by teachers Stephen Batchelor, Christina Feldman, John Peacock and Akincano Weber.

We offer the unique opportunity to study the Buddha’s early teachings as well as practice the practical applications such as mindfulness and meditation in an inclusive community - without ascribing to a particular doctrine or ‘religion’.

Our inspiration stems from the Dharma as found in the earliest Buddhist texts, which underlies many of the contemporary forms of meditation– such as mindfulness and vipassana.

Rooted in relevance

Our courses are very much rooted in the relevance of the ancient teachings, for life today. As such, our teachers count a varied and rich life experience - including academics, former Buddhist monks and nuns, practicing psychotherapists, mindfulness trainers, authors and more.

All our courses are unique, with each teacher offering their own contemplative approach. Our aim is a practical application of the teachings that enables students to integrate dharma values into all aspects of their daily lives.

Welcome to all

We run courses and retreats in beautiful meditation centres around Europe, as well as online.
We welcome all people to study with us, and have bursaries available to enable inclusivity.

The college does not subscribe to a particular doctrine and is not aligned with any specific Buddhist school.  We encourage diversity of thought and interpretation - often our teachers will have differing opinions - and we inspire a sense of curiosity in our students.

Learning for wherever you are on your journey

We have courses that are the perfect introduction to the Buddha’s teachings, as well as those that delve into specific themes that may suit people who have already been studying a while.

They have a variety of formats - such as group mentoring courses, extended courses running over one or two years, in-person retreats, distance learning and seminar series on individual topics that you can dip in and out of.

Many mindfulness teachers study with us, and we are pleased to offer a range of retreats which satisfy the EAMBA (European Association for Mindfulness Based Approaches) criteria for Mindfulness Teachers’ annual retreat.

Equality and Diversity

Bodhi College is committed to making the exploration of the practices and teachings of the Buddha relevant and accessible in today’s world. It is important to us to welcome all people of every age, ethnicity, cultural heritage and religious background, socio-economic group, ability, sexual orientation and gender identity.

In this we aspire to follow in the footsteps of the Buddha, who offered his teachings of awakening and freedom to everyone without exception, and in doing so challenged the limitations of the social structures and attitudes of his day, such as the rigid caste system and restricted position of women.

We seek to promote the inclusion and participation in all Bodhi College’s activities of people of diverse identities, and we are committed to identifying, understanding, and taking down whatever barriers might prevent this happening. Meanwhile we acknowledge the learning and open-mindedness that this pursuit requires, and that we are still at the beginning of this journey.
